Storhamar Upper Secondary School has over a number of years developed several international projects, both independently and in cooperation with partners through Leonardo's Mobility programme. Our current projects are in Spain, in the Czech Republic, and in Canada.

For our students in vocational education programmes, there are two options for international work experience. The vocational students are encouraged to participate in one of the two projects, and there is an application and selection process. In the selection process, students' attendance record, punctuality and good
manners are emphasized. Criteria for selection have been set by the students themselves, and each placement period is documented through logs and reports.

Our most recent project for vocational students is in San Pedro del Pinatar is in the Murcia district of Spain, where students may spend two weeks of their work placement in the spring. Students training to become professional chefs and waiters have the opportunity to work at upscale hotels, while skin care students work at the Thalasia hotel and spa centre. Finally, students from our child care and youth work course will spend their work placement at Castelar College.

We also continue to develop our projects in the Czech Republic. Our partner is an upper secondary school in Prague. This is a student exchange programme, where our students are accommodated in Czech families during their work placement period, or at least for part of their stay. In Prague, our students may work at a Czech home for the elderly, in kindergartens, and in five-star hotel restaurants. We welcome students from the Czech partner school
for similar work placement in Hamar every year.
